Along with the core and radio access network (RAN), xHauul (fronthaul, midhaul, backhaul) transport networks are critical components of cellular wireless networks. This paper delves into the current transport network landscape, explores ongoing work, and envisions the future of 5G transport networks.
5G Transport Networks examines the characteristics that will shape 5G transport networks, which will grow with bandwidth demands, driving the need for continuous backhaul capacity and the need for flexible, scalable solutions. Masu. Current efforts are focused on cloud-based RAN connectivity, network-based timing and synchronization, and end-to-end network slicing. Future work will focus on strengthening the security of transport networks and addressing the impact of metaverse and immersive applications.
