Nokia reveals that 5G users in India will consume 17.4 exabytes per month in 2023
According to a recent report from Nokia, starting October 2022, 5G users in India will use around 3.6 times more mobile data traffic than 4G users.
According to Nokia’s Mobile Broadband Index (MBiT), 5G users in India will consume 17.4 exabytes per month in 2023, at a CAGR of 26% over the past five years.
Nokia highlighted that the launch of 5G in the Indian market will significantly increase data usage, contributing to 15% of total data traffic in 2023.
The report also noted that 5G traffic has shown significant growth in all telecom circles in India, with metro circles reaching 20% share of total mobile data traffic. Increasing 5G availability and performance, availability of affordable devices, and introduction of new data-intensive apps and services will accelerate future 5G growth in India, according to a Nokia report. is. Average monthly data traffic per user will also increase by 24% year-on-year in 2023, reaching 24.1 gigabytes per user per month, the study said.
The Nordic vendor also expects the expansion of 5G fixed wireless access (FWA), with FWA users expected to consume an estimated 2.5 times more data than the average 5G user, and the expansion of 5G fixed wireless access (FWA) into new services in both the residential and enterprise segments. The Indian government recently confirmed that the upcoming spectrum auction is scheduled to begin on May 20th.
The next auction will feature 5G radio waves in the 800 MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz, 2.1 GHz, 2.3 GHz, 2.5 GHz, 3.3 GHz, and 26 GHz bands.
Telecommunications carriers wishing to purchase spectrum can apply until April 22. According to reports, a mock spectrum auction will be held on May 13th and 14th.
Sources said Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea will only make a few bids for spectrum renewal in the auction.
