Pure Storage has provided data center consolidation to managed service provider 5G Network (5GN) in Melbourne.
5GN provides communications services, colocation, data center, infrastructure provisioning and managed IT services to business and government customers across Australia.
The company partnered with Pure Storage to consolidate two leased data centers with a combined data volume of over 1.5 petabytes into one data center facility in Sydney.
Pure Storage’s all-flash storage solution with DirectFlash modules enabled 5GN to reduce rack space by 65%, resulting in lower energy and cooling costs.
“We are a very customer-centric company and anything that impacts our customers is a priority for us,” said Wahab Khan, Head of Cloud and Platforms at 5GN.
“This was a large-scale project involving the movement and integration of 1.5 petabytes of data and thousands of live customer services, which needed to be maintained with minimal disruption.”
“Security measures must also be rigorously applied to protect sensitive information from unauthorized access, compromise, and leakage.”
“This dual focus on integrity and security is critical to mitigating risk and ensuring a seamless and secure transition to a new unified data environment.”
“Pure Storage provided us with that without any additional services or add-ons. In fact, the day after migrating to Pure Storage, our application team reported that the network was running at least twice as fast. ”
5GN also freed up its IT team by using Pure Storage’s Pure1 data storage management platform.
The data center consolidation was completed in less than three months, half the time expected, with minimal disruption to customers.
“When we are able to exceed customer expectations like we did with 5GN, we are very satisfied,” said Amy Rushall, vice president of ANZ at Pure Storage.
“This was a truly challenging mission for the Pure Storage team, but they never gave up and were confident we had the technology and expertise to accomplish this task.”
“This is a great showcase of the capabilities of Pure Storage’s solution.”
