The National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel) has approved the licensing and activation of 5G technology stations in a further 395 municipalities as of Monday, March 18th. This brings the total number of municipalities with 5G coverage to 3,678, covering approximately 181.3 million Brazilians. 85% of the population.

5G is the fifth generation technology standard for mobile and broadband networks, the successor to 4G connectivity networks. Mobile phone companies are gradually launching 5G nationwide from July 2022.
Allocation of the 3.5 GHz band for 5G mobile networks does not mean immediate installation of antennas in the area. Installation timing depends on each provider’s individual plans. You can apply for license and activation for 5G standalone or pure 5G stations.
Currently, all municipalities in nine of Brazil’s 27 states have received 5G licenses. Anatel has already decided on the list of municipalities that will be allowed to use 5G internet in the next step, and nine more states are expected to complete this step.
Modernization
According to the Ministry of Communications, traditional parabolic antennas will soon be phased out due to the introduction of 5G technology in Brazil, as both use the same radio frequency band.
Families enrolled in the federal social program (CadÚnico) and currently installing and using a traditional satellite dish are eligible to receive a free kit containing the new digital satellite dish.
The new digital satellite antenna features shadow- and drizzle-free images, improved sound quality, access to over 80 channels with regional options, free programming, smaller antenna, standardized channel names and numbers, modern antennas, and more. It has several advantages over traditional digital parabolic antennas. Equipment has been improved and technology has improved.
