Plans to build 5G antennas on top of the apartment complex have been approved by Bracknell Forest Council.
The plan involves telecom company Cernex UK building a 5G mobile base station on the roof of Point Royal skyscraper in Rectory Lane, East Hampstead. Used by Vodafone and O2.
Cellnex UK said this is an upgrade to equipment already installed in the 18-storey high-rise building and will be a better alternative to building new masts on the ground.
Cellnex UK said: “The building will have existing flagpole towers and associated support structures at the rooftop level, and the purpose of the upgrade is to improve coverage and promote important 5G deployments.”

“We believe that the visually least disturbing solution was proposed by upgrading existing sites rather than introducing an entirely new ground or rooftop installation.”
Bracknell Forest Council planners approved the plan on Wednesday, April 3rd.
This comes after the Bracknell Forest Council refused permission to another telecom company Signal Infrastructure to build a ground telephone tower in the Great Netherlands last year.
Neighbors said the mast would have been “an eyelashes,” and the city council said the device could damage nearby trees.
